As I woke up this morning it dawned on me…when does fishing season start in Vermont? Fishing vacations in Vermont are very popular. As many of our guests already know, we have two ponds available for our guests a large 10 acre pond and a smaller trout pond. What if you want to go off property? Well, fishing season in Vermont officially opened for the 2011 season on April 9. This blogger (Jess) can’t be called an “angler” by any means – I’m more of a if it has a motor (aka dirtbike) I am in – but I did some quick research for you Sterling Ridge Resort anglers. Did you know that we have a fly fishing shop right here in good Ol’ Jeffersonville? It is called Green Mountain Troutfitters. Lots of info such as water conditions, what types of flies to use and more. Go to http://www.gmtrout.com for more information. Another great source was the VT Fish and Wildlife website. You can purchase your license right online before you even get here. There is also a page on what type of fish are available here in Vermont. I think I have rambled on enough about fishing. Now get out there, go to it and don’t forget to invite us to your cabin for a fish fry!
